Jojoba Seeds Plants

Jojoba Seedlings

Jojoba is a desert plant that is native to the Sonoran Desert.  The female plant produces seeds with a high oil content which can be used as a substitue for many oils including Sperm Whale oil.  It is very draught resistent and needs little water after it is established.

In the 1970's the government subsidized many jojoba farms through tax benefits and many acres of jojoba were planted.  Once the tax advantage was removed, most of the farms were abandoned, but today there are a number of large and small produces of jojoba oil.

The plant normally grows to a 5-6 foot bush with a waxy green leave and can be grown in a pot.  The root can go down 40 feet as it seeks sources of water and moisture.

We have started growing seedlings for our own use, but expect to have excess that can be purchased.  The plants can not remain in a pot for long, so when they are ready to be planted, they are ready.  Please use our request form to let us know if you would like to purchase any jojoba seedlings and we will contact when they are available.  Planting is best from spring through fall as they prefer warm soil temperatures.

By the way, in the pictures the red stuff is cayenne pepper as we attempt to keep the jack rabbits away.

Below is a 1 page PDF document with some information on Jojoba.  I want to give credit to the folks at www.jojoba-ksa-jojoba.com who not only sold us some really great jojoba seed but also provided with us much information and support.
